Photo Contest

The FREEZE photo contest seeks amateur and professional photographers ready and willing to capture the project in every stage, from site preparation in December to project installation, public events, and as the projects "melt" and are removed. We are looking for photos that capture the various qualities of the event, from demonstrating the unique setting for the project; to the collaborative nature of the project, the various teams; the qualities that define the "north" and Alaska; the public interacting with participants, projects and events; and the completed projects in various light, weather and states of change.

The deadline for photograph submissions is February 15. Send up to 5 photographs by email to info@freezeproject.org. You can include titles with your photographs if they provide context to the photo. Please include your name as you would like it listed in print. Photos submitted to the photo contest are available for project use, including in the publication, on the project web site and in newspapers, magazines. Photographs sent by email should be JPEG format and no larger than 2 MB. Photographers who are selected for inclusion in the catalogue may be contacted for higher-resolution versions of their images.

There is no charge for entries. Entries should be emailed by midnight Anchorage time.

A grand-prize winner will be selected by March 1 for a full-page photograph in the project publication, featured on the web site, and will receive a cash award of $500. Additional categories and prizes will be announced at a later date. Photographs submitted prior to the deadline, during the run of the exhibition, are welcome and may also be submitted to other press outlets and featured on the web site.
